Futurgarb
The Scene For the past decade, Futurgarb owners Tim, Michael and Reggie, have thrown themselves into their passion for the local art and fashion scenes. Their 2,000-square-foot loft space on Milwaukee Avenue incorporates both interests. It's part clothing store, part design studio, accommodating their own paintings, not to mention the vintage motorcycles they ride to the store.
The Goods Think high-quality, fun-yet-functional garments you can wear from work to play or from a night out straight to the office the next morning. Urban dwellers will love Futurgarb's modern, sophisticated, underground designer lines like Tokyo1 -- contemporary and functional garments with pockets fitting anything from a magazine to a laptop computer -- and Von Dutch -- original bad-boy jeans of the '50s emulated by Diesel. Eclectic threads like Steady's classic retro lounge wear ($50) and E.C. Star's spider dresses and cowgirl skirts ($36-$100) also make the must-have list. Clothing is split 50/50 between men and women.
